Max's Place
Client: Max’s Place, LLC and KBE Building Corporation
Contract: $8,000,000
The Challenge: Max’s Place was a “fast-tracked” retail shopping center in the heart of Old Saybrook, CT. This project consisted of a state of the art waste water treatment facility, massive onsite septic system including the importing of 25,000 CY of septic sand, drainage, paving, curbs, and landscaping. Also, there was a large offsite highway improvement as part of the project.
Guilford High School
Client: Town of Guilford and O & G Industries
Contract: $11,000,000
The Challenge: Richards Corporation held the contract for the site work package and constructed several athletic fields at the new school which was approximately 20 feet adjacent to the old school. This required Richards to excavate 100,000 yards of earth, 40,000 yards of rock, and installed lot drainage, sewers and shared waterlines. During the rock blasting Richards Corporation performed, school was in session. That alone is a challenge within itself.
East Haddam Elementary School
Client: Town of East Haddam
Contract: $1,600,000
The Challenge: The East Haddam Elementary School Project was a complete renovation to the exterior of the elementary school. The project consisted of all new parking lots, drainage system, curbing, asphalt paving, and sidewalks. The project bid at the end of June and then was delayed by DEEP permitting issues until the 5th of July. The work was completed by August 31st in time for the students to return from summer break.
UCONN STEM Residence Hall
Client: UCONN and KBE Building Corporation
Contract: $7,900,000
The Challenge: STEM dormitory is the newest dormitory located on the Storrs campus. Consisting of an 11 story building on the highest part of campus, Richards part in this project consisted of removing and exporting 50,000 CY of earth, new foundations, drainage, sanitary sewer, water and other utilities. Also, new walks, drives and landscaping was installed. The work was performed on a design-build basis for KBE Building in conjunction with the University.
